The Sheltie, as they are usually called, is a charming, happy little dog from the Shetland Islands. Their big desire in life is to please you and they will very quickly adapt themselves to you. Shelties are a wonderful family dog, because they especially love children.
The Sheltie is a dog of character, trainability and distinction. They rank high in obedience work. Although the Sheltie is a working dog they can adapt to outdoor or apartment living.
